Our Dollar, Your Problem
Kenneth Rogoff’s Our Dollar, Your Problem: An Insider’s View of Seven Turbulent Decades of Global Finance, and the Road Ahead has been an extraordinarily timely and insightful read for me this month. The book was written before the 2024 election and published in 2025, and it reflects Rogoff’s experience as the Maurits C. Boas Chair of International Economics at Harvard and as a former chief economist at the IMF.
How Countries Go Broke
How Countries Go Broke identifies five major forces shaping the big debt cycle: Debt, Civil War, International War, Acts of Nature, and Technology. The book traces the current cycle back to 1945, when a new monetary and geopolitical order emerged post–World War II. Drawing on decades of experience as co-founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, Dalio offers grounded insights into today’s economic landscape.
